School’s out and I have more time now to write about the happenings in the UC world. There is a lot of buzz about Skype for the enterprise market and more folks are now seriously considering its applications. Or not. There are serious considerations for the Skype eco-system to be adapted for a different type of customer and set of uses. Enterprises are built on reliability and unless the Skype system can be rebuilt for such specific needs, it is never going to be accepted. Most IT managers will feel overwhelmed to trust a free communication tool to withstand the pressures of their firms and networks. Skype will have to come out of its Kazaa days and install confidence in the IT manager to prove that it is the cloud computing platform for voice communications. Till then we use our local computing power.
