Products that cater to the enterprise segment have always kept a low profile. While many solution vendors are incorporating their applications to the enterprise segment, the UC vendors have traditionally stayed away from touting the iPhone or the Razr as a UC-worth hardware. Part of this blame falls on the milking the cow attitude whereas the other reason could that these devices are not totally suited to the enterprise market. So can we see ourselves using an iPhone in the place of a Blackberry ? Can we see ourselves using an iPad in the place of a laptop ? There are low-level glitches to be solved (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704379004575249092546984862.html ) but once these are out of the way, will the UC market gladly begin using them in place of the BB’s ? All the tablet vendors will be eagerly awaiting how much this market holds from the collaboration perspective – convergence of communication tools on the iPad would remove or kill Ethernet totally.
